What actually changed this release

The World Bank republishes its full remittance-cost panel every release; most of it is a repeat of the number before it. This report isolates the part that changed: how many corridors moved, which direction, and whether any corridor gained or lost provider coverage entirely.

The verdict

Comparing the 2025Q3 release to the one before it across 365 corridors with reliable multi-provider pricing in both releases: 222 got cheaper, 140 got more expensive, and 3 held flat. The average move was -0.03 pp, essentially a wash at the whole-market level even though individual corridors swung much further in both directions.

Computed from 17,184 quarterly corridor price observations spanning 2011Q1 to 2025Q3 in the World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide database. A corridor only counts toward the figures above if it has a reliable multi-provider price (at least 2 providers surveyed) in both this release and the prior one; a single-provider "average" is one company's price, not a market signal, and single-observation corridors cannot appear at all rather than being shown with a fabricated zero change.

Did any corridor gain or lose provider coverage?

No. Every corridor that had at least one surveyed provider in the prior release still has at least one this release, and no corridor gained coverage from zero. This release's story is entirely about price movement among already-covered corridors, not corridors entering or leaving the panel. Corridors in this dataset do not merge or get renamed; provider coverage entering or leaving zero is the closest analog to an identity event, and none occurred here.

How this report is built

Every number above is computed at request time from the two most recent quarterly observations for each corridor in the World Bank's Remittance Prices Worldwide panel, nothing is typed in by an editor and nothing is estimated. "Prior release" means each corridor's own second-most-recent surveyed quarter, not a fixed calendar quarter, the World Bank's survey cadence is irregular and corridors are not all resurveyed on the same schedule.

This report will read differently every time the World Bank publishes a new release: the counts, the average move, and the coverage-change finding are all recalculated from whatever the latest two releases actually show. A release with no genuine market movement will honestly report a near-zero average delta and mostly-unchanged corridors, rather than manufacturing a story where none exists.

Every figure on PlainRemit is rendered directly from World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide (RPW) data, no number is typed in by an editor. Every figure on this page is computed directly from consecutive World Bank RPW quarterly releases at request time; no figure is typed in by an editor.
